# Main model workflow
A model simulation runs over multiple cycles, performing steps B-E at every cycle (see Figure). Each cycle includes the simulation of a vegetation growth phase (steps B-C) and of a flood event (steps D-E). In particular:
- **step A**, the pre-processing step defines the simulation cycles and all the input (or boundary conditions) for the subsequent modeling steps by analyzing a discharge time series
- **step B** (veg. growth), runs a hydrodynamic simulation with BASEMENT that outputs water levels at known discharges
- **step C** (veg. growth), runs a python script to calculate the vegetation growth, in terms of aboveground, belowground biomass and rooting depth
- **step D** (flood), runs a steady-state hydrodynamic simulation with BASEMENT for obtaining the initial conditions for mobile bed simulation
- **step E** (flood), runs an un-steady simulation with a flood hydrograph as input. Here the riverbed changes are computed.
