Running on Windows with Git Bash
Hi Sam,
I tried to get this setup to run on Windows 10 with Git Bash. Actually, once the SSH keys have been setup (can be done with Git GUI), it works pretty much out-of-the-box. The only thing that did not work was opening the browser with the notebook URL automatically. The reason is of course that the $OSTYPE is different. If one modifies the last part of the script as shown below, it works like a charm:
if [[ "$OSTYPE" == "linux-gnu" ]]; then
xdg-open $nburl
elif [[ "$OSTYPE" == "darwin"* ]]; then
open $nburl
elif [[ "$OSTYPE" == "msys" ]]; then # Git Bash on Windows 10
start $nburl
else
echo -e "Your operating system does not allow to start the browser automatically."
echo -e "Please open $nburl in your browser."
fi
I think this could be a nice addition to the project and would open new possibilities for Windows users to benefit from the HPC clusters.
Cheers, Henry
