**PhenoFly Planning Tool** is a software tool that supports
* Performing a pre-purchase evaluation of UASs including (external) camera systems
* Simulating different flight scenarios for an assessment of requirements and feasibility with regard to mission parameters, thereby reducing uncertainty regarding photographic products
* Optimize flight parameters to meet the requirements for dedicated mapping missions
* Set-up a scientific experiment with optimized GCP distribution, plot size and viewing geometry considerations
* Prepare and perform flights in combination with a sophisticated autopilot system (for example Litchi as lightweight way-point flight tool, or UgCS as full-featured autopilot tool)
**PhenoFly Planning Tool** is programmed in R using R Shiny as web application framework. The tool depends on the public available packages ggplot2, gridExtra, RJSONIO, rlist, rgdal, readr, zoo, data.table and raster. **PhenoFly Planning Tool** therefore runs on every platform that supports R---it was tested to run locally on both windows and linux systems. Using an R Shiny server to provide the app to users completely overcomes operating system borders and offers full functionality to any client running a web-browser that supports JavaScript.
