External Signup Impossible

Summary

External signup to events does not work (and creates no error message for the user.)

Steps to Reproduce

Current example: Coding Weekend; Try to sign up as external, there will be no error but it will also not work. The console shows that the API returned a 422 error, but provides no further detail.
